The inspiration for FOLKLORE comes from historic pattern fabrics of the 16th – 17th centuries. Pattern fabrics were created by experienced embroiderers and served as practical aids and sources of inspiration for more junior craftsmen in days when printed books were not yet readily available. In the FOLKLORE carpet, the motifs of the pattern fabrics are reproduced in extreme enlargement. Needles and thread have been replaces by a modern shearing technique with which the motives are cut into the carpet by hand. The interplay of light and shadow causes the pattern to be revealed on the fine merino wool.

The play of the different structures of cut and un-cut pile give the carpet a very elegant look and feel.
