Essen - GermanyBenu Flow
Benu FLOW is a new addition to the Benu PET concept, Christian Fischbacher’s pioneer-technology of converting post-consumer PET bottles into fabrics for home furnishings. This soft-flowing voile combines a 100% recycled material with inherent flame-retardancy and has met with a lot of excitement among ecologically-minded architects. For the first time, it has become possible to produce a flame retardant fabric from yarn made 100% out of recycled PET bottles. The bottles are collected in Northern Italy, cleaned and pressed. They are then shredded into flakes, melted, and spun into polyester yarn with a flame retardant additive. Through this process, the yarn becomes “inherently flame retardant” – that is, the flame retardancy is due to the molecular structure of the fibre. All fabrics in the Benu© collection are made from recycled materials and stand for sustainability and environmentally friendly manufacturing.
